Transforming the web into a collaborative canvas is an ambitious goal. I’m proud of what Lucy and I have built in the last four weeks to bring that vision to life!

The product is still far from its full potential, but we believe this first version has tremendous value to offer. That’s why we’re excited to open a private beta to share the magic of Polairis with all of you. ✨

The Inside Scoop 🍨

Behind the scenes, Lucy tackles the product’s most innovative and technically challenging components, while I handle the rest. We’ve had many late-night conversations where we nerd out about the tech we’re building. I asked Lucy to share some of her reflections:

This is a tricky product to build because there’s very little precedent for such level of interactivity with web pages—and probably for good reason. Websites have different structures and behaviors, often resulting in unpredictable and surprising interactions.

It’s been a blast coming up with creative solutions and trying various approaches for pinning comments to different types of components. New edge cases continue to pop up, but my approach has been to start small before generalizing. The complexity definitely keeps me on my toes!

Looking ahead, this stage of the beta is about quality over quantity. For product development, that means we’re focused on nailing down the product’s core features before adding new ones. For adoption, it means we want to deliver an amazing experience for a small number of users before expanding.

It’s not every day we get to put a new product out into the world. I’m grateful to have reached this milestone with Lucy, and I can’t think of a better way to kick off our private beta than to invite all of you to be the first to join!
